Bederkesa Court residents bake cakes to raise funds for Macmillan

Bederkesa Court residents made yummy cakes for their community bake-off earlier this month, to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support.

Organised by our Independent Living Scheme Officer, Barbara, the event brought residents together to socialise and enjoy each other’s company while supporting a good cause.

And the winners are...

Residents baked their favourite sweet and savoury dishes, which were then judged by Cornwall Housing staff.

Pam’s classic Victoria sponge cake took first place in the sweet category, and the top savoury prize went to Mary’s delicious cheese scones. A special mention was given to a lemon drizzle cake baked by five-year-old George and his grandad Douglas, which brought smiles all around. The winners each received a small gift from Barbara.

Raising money for Macmillan Cancer Support

Residents, friends, family and Cornwall Housing colleagues were invited to the fun-filled event. Everyone was invited to make a donation to Macmillan Cancer Support, an organisation that helps people affected by cancer. There was also a ‘guess the name of the teddy’ game to raise even more funds.

Future events at Bederkesa

Residents are already looking forward to the next event planned for September: a Coffee Morning and Fete to raise further donations for Macmillan.
