New contractor for home safety checks and heating

Cornwall Housing is pleased to announce a new partnership with a mechanical and electrical company which will provide home safety checks and heating system maintenance for its 10,500 properties across the whole county.

Following an open tender, the 10-year contract has been awarded to CCS (Correct Contract Services) which has a long-established reputation for high quality compliance and heating services for social housing.

Tenants involved in selection process

After all tenders were assessed, short-listed candidates were invited for interview in mid-November. The interview panel included tenants who questioned the contractors about how they planned to address concerns raised during the resident engagement earlier this year. The tenants are part of a residents’ service improvement group who were involved in shaping the tender documentation and interview questions, and who will have the opportunity to engage with CCS as they get ready to start in April 2025.

Today’s announcement follows the recent award of interim contracts to 3 companies which will provide everyday repairs, each covering one of 3 geographical areas in Cornwall (see news story here).

Major milestone reached in new approach to keep residents safe

Ian Frazer, CHL’s Executive Director of Asset Management, said: “The award of this contract is an important step forward in the overhaul of how we manage and deliver compliance servicing and heating repairs to keep our residents safe. It means we’re on target to implement the new service in April 2025 and over the next 12 months will be phasing in the services to minimise disruption, working closely with our new partner to ensure a smooth transition.”

“We’ve listened to tenants’ concerns throughout the process of selecting CCS and will continue to do so both during and after the transition phase.”

Danny Gladwyn, Managing Director for CCS, said “For 17 years, we have been a trusted partner for social housing providers across the UK, delivering comprehensive compliance services that ensure safe and comfortable living environments for tenants. We are delighted to extend our expertise to Cornwall Housing and work together to improve the quality of life for residents. Our commitment to excellence and customer satisfaction will drive positive outcomes for the entire community.”

Residents should continue to report repairs in the usual ways – webformemail or phone.
