Last week, two of our older person’s sheltered housing schemes, Bederkesa Court in Bodmin and Albion Court in Torpoint, hosted coffee mornings to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support.
Thanks to the incredible teamwork between residents and our Scheme Officers Barbara and Kelsey, combined they raised an impressive £558.60 to support people living with cancer.
Whilst Barbara and Kelsey oversaw the events, residents manned the stalls, donated homemade cakes, hosted a tombola and raffle, and showcased their own crafts. One resident commented: "We all chipped in. It’s been a real team effort."
Our Scheme Officers play a vital role in helping residents in our sheltered housing schemes to live independently, and this event provided an opportunity for residents to socialise. Another resident told us: "We need more events like this. It’s wonderful to get my husband out and about. It gives him an extra bit of life.”
Barbara said: “I would like to say a big thank you to all the residents who pitched in - I couldn’t have done it without them."
"I’d also like to thank our Estate Ranger team, who made sure the grounds outside of Bederkesa were looking good for all our visitors. But the biggest thank you goes to those who came along and donated.”
Kelsey said: “We had an amazing turnout, we got residents socialising, and we raised a fantastic amount of money for a very worthy cause.”
There’s so much on at Bederkesa and Albion Court!
