Upgrading waste and recycling facilities for residents

Our Neighbourhood Management team have installed new waste and recycling units at three of our blocks of flats with shared refuse facilities. These enhancements aim to make waste disposal easier and more eco-friendly for our residents.

Now ready for use, the new facilities at Cuddra Road in St Austell, West View in Perranporth, and Harvey Street in Torpoint aim to enhance the convenience and sustainability of waste disposal for local residents. The project was funded through Cornwall Housing’s improvement budget to enhance the sustainability of our estates.

Alastair Spencer, Neighbourhood Services Manager, said: “We worked closely with Cornwall Council’s waste team to keep residents fully up to date about the new facilities and rubbish collection procedures, posting letters and knocking on residents’ doors. Every resident we spoke with was very happy with the changes, so we went ahead and replaced the existing free-standing bins.

“This project was a true team effort, and I would like to thank everyone involved.

Special recognition goes to Matt Herring (Estates Services Team Leader) and Lindsey Always (Quality & Customer Coordinator), whose dedication and hard work helped to bring this project to fruition. I also want to acknowledge our partners at MetroStor Streetscene and the Cormac Civils team for their expertise and collaboration. We look forward to seeing the positive impact these new units will have on our residents and the environment.”

The upgraded facilities mark another milestone in our efforts to enhance our residents’ homes and estates, while promoting sustainability.
