Blooming Brilliant! Garden Competition Winners Announced

A huge thank you to everyone who entered this year’s garden competition – you’ve really helped grow some community spirit!

Our judges from the CHL Tenants’ Forum had the tough task of choosing between so many colourful, creative and well-loved gardens. After much deliberation (and a lot of admiration), the winners were finally chosen. Certificates and vouchers were presented by John Harris, one of our judges, while all other entrants will receive theirs by post.

1st Place – Colin & Myrtle, Menheniot

Colin and Myrtle were over the moon to win first place this year. A few years ago, they scooped a runner-up prize for their window box, but this time their whole garden stole the show. In their 70s and 80s, they still spend plenty of time tending to their plants, fruit, and flowers, creating colour and joy all year round.

Myrtle might have been a little camera shy, but both she and Colin love spending time outdoors, spotting wildlife and enjoying the glow of solar lights well into the evening. Colin hopes more people will be inspired to enter next year: “Take photos throughout the year – you never know what might impress the judges!”

2nd Place – Natalie, Redgate

Natalie was stunned to take second place, and credits her daughter for giving her the nudge to enter. With years of effort, she has transformed her garden into a space that works for the whole family, inspired by her own mother’s green fingers. Her hard work has clearly paid off – a real family achievement.

3rd Prize – Elaine, Truro

Elaine’s garden journey is one of sheer determination. Just last year, her garden was more of a building site than a floral haven, complete with a mini digger! She and her partner started by fixing the fencing, and little by little, their corner plot blossomed into something special. Elaine was delighted to be recognised for all the effort – and she’s not done yet. The front garden is next on her list!
