Changes to local litter bins: key information for residents

Earlier in the year, we announced some changes to the way we manage some of Cornwall’s litter bins on Cornwall Housing land and we are now moving ahead with a second phase of litter bin removals.

Why we’re removing the bins

Like many other organisations we’re having to make difficult decisions about where and how we spend the budget entrusted to us and need to ensure every pound is spent where it makes the biggest difference, repairing and maintaining our homes in Cornwall, for our residents.

We have consulted with the local town, parish and city councils affected to offer the opportunity to take over the ownership and maintenance of the bins affected in their area, before removal takes place at the end of October.

As a result of this consultation 54 bins in Falmouth, Truro, Penryn, Feock, Mylor will be removed. You can read the full list below.

We understand that bins are important to local communities and we have worked closely with Cornwall Council to look at all possible options.

Our Estate Rangers will continue to monitor our estates and any wider issues with litter and street cleaning will remain the responsibility of Cornwall Council.
