Delivering safe, seamless rewiring for residents

We recently completed a full electrical rewire at a home in Saltash - and the feedback from the resident has been overwhelmingly positive. Although rewiring can initially feel like a major disruption, this project is a great example of how our surveyors, contractors and residents work together to make the process as smooth as possible.

Listening, planning and supporting

Before the work began, our Building Surveyor and Electrical Supervisor met with the resident to talk through what would be needed, what furniture might need moving, and how daily routines could be maintained during the installation. This included finding practical solutions such as ensuring access to key rooms and allowing continued use of essential appliances.

The resident appreciated this early support and said the guidance helped them feel prepared and reassured.

A first-class installation

The rewire itself was carried out by our contractor, APEC. During the job, the electricians worked room-by-room, kept the household updated, and assisted with moving carpets and furniture where needed. Despite initially expecting the process to be stressful, the tenant reported being very pleased with the team and described the installation as “first class”.

Our staff on site also praised APEC for their professionalism and the quality of their work - reflecting the strong partnership between Cornwall Housing and our approved contractors.
