The Malabar estate in Truro came alive on Tuesday 20 August, as residents of all ages joined together for Malabar Community Day - a celebration of local services, connections and community spirit.
The event was organised by our Neighbourhood Housing Officer Robyn Hingley and brought together a wide range of partners, all keen to support and chat with residents.
Among those attending were Cornwall Council’s Trading Standards Team, Waste and Recycling Team and Community Network Officer, along with Truro City Council’s Rangers.
Local groups and businesses also joined in, including the New Beginning Community Association, our Mid and West Cornwall repairs contractor WMS, Jenny’s Little Bookshop and the much-loved Cheeky Little Monkey coffee and ice cream van.
Cornwall Housing was well represented too, with our Housing Management Team, Estate Rangers, Tenancy Sustainment Officer and Building Safety Team all on hand to answer questions and provide advice.
The day saw a strong turnout from local residents, who enjoyed the chance to chat informally with service providers, raise any issues and take part in a survey about life on the estate - helping to shape the future of their community.
The atmosphere was warm, welcoming and positive, with many praising the event as a great opportunity to connect, share ideas and celebrate the Malabar community.
