Storm Goretti: Repairs service update for residents

adobestock_1595762882

Following the impact of Storm Goretti, we are currently operating an essential repairs-only service. This means that only emergency and urgent repairs that represent major risk to the property are being logged and responded to while we assess the situation and manage the storm’s aftermath.

This approach allows our teams to prioritise residents who are most at risk and ensure that urgent safety issues are dealt with as quickly as possible.

We are working closely with the council to support their efforts to clear roads and respond to those areas most at risk.  Please do refer to wider guidance from the council and the emergency services.

For the time being:

  • Emergency and urgent repairs that represent major risk to the property will continue to be attended
  • Non-essential repairs will not be logged at this time – please contact us again next week to report these, once services return to normal

Important guidance on common storm-related issues

To avoid delays and ensure issues are reported to the correct organisation, please note the following:

🔨 Essential repairs only

Call us on 0300 1234 161

⚠️Gas leaks

Contact Wales and West immediately on 0800 111 999

⚡Power outages

Call the National Grid on 105 or 0800 6783 105

🌲Fallen trees and fencing

Fallen trees or fencing not touching your home are not considered essential repairs.

If a tree is touching or damaging your property, please contact us directly, as this will be treated as an essential repair

We consider an emergency to be something that puts your health, safety, or home at immediate risk, including:

  • A serious health or safety risk, such as a large, uncontrollable water leak or a dangerous electrical problem
  • Major damage to the building, for example if part of the structure is unstable or has collapsed
  • A serious security issue with your home
  • A long-lasting loss of an essential service like gas or water, where this affects your health or safety
  • Storm damage that makes your home unsafe, such as a collapsed roof, parts of the building falling down, severe water coming into the property, or damage that leaves your home exposed to the weather

Please note: Minor storm damage — such as loose roof tiles, broken fences, or garden debris — is not usually an emergency unless it creates an immediate danger or risks further serious damage to the property.

⚠️If you smell gas in your home, call Wales and West immediately on 0800 111 999

We understand that storm damage can be worrying and we want to reassure residents that we are doing everything we can to respond to the most serious and urgent situations first. Our teams are working hard in challenging conditions to keep residents safe.

Thank you for your patience while we manage this period of disruption.
