Tenancy Sustainment Officer x4

We’re looking for people with great people skills and experience of housing or welfare services to join our housing management team.  If you’re after a challenge and a change, where you can really make a difference, then we’ve got a home for you at Cornwall Housing.  Join us to create safe homes in strong communities for one and all!

About the role

This role delivers our new tenancy sustainment service which empowers residents, builds relationships and improves lives through positive steps focussed on person-centred intervention.

You’ll work closely with residents during the early months of their tenancy, helping them settle in, manage their finances, and access advice and services that support long-term success.

You’ll intervene in existing tenancies where residents face hardship, distress, or exclusion – developing tailored intervention plans alongside partners in benefits, social care and health to remove barriers and help residents sustain their tenancy.

You’ll be passionate about inclusion and champion tenancy sustainment across your region – sharing good practice, coaching colleagues, and supporting complex cases when things get tough.

We want you to care about where you work and make a difference for these residents and communities.

What you’ll need to be successful:

  • Experience of supporting people with complex or multiple needs – ideally in housing, health or social care, with a clear understanding of social exclusion and how to build trust with residents in distress or at risk of losing their homes.
  • Ability to understand tenancy law, welfare benefits, and financial inclusion – you’ll help residents sustain their tenancies by assessing risks, supporting benefit claims, improving affordability, and accessing hardship funds or specialist services.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills – you’ll respond to sensitive situations with empathy, manage difficult conversations, build trust and promote independence while maintaining clear boundaries and expectations.
  • Strong organisational, IT and partnership-working skills – you’ll manage your own caseload, maintain accurate records, and work effectively with internal teams and external agencies to support timely, coordinated interventions.
  • A full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle – this is a community-based role, and being visible in our communities is essential. You’ll be out and about meeting residents in their homes, working with partners, and making things happen on the ground.
