Taking over a tenancy
Succession of a tenancy in the event of the tenant dying
If a tenant dies certain people have the right to take over the tenancy, as long as the deceased tenant didn't take over the tenancy in the same circumstances. These people could be a joint tenant, the tenant’s wife, husband or partner or a member of the family who has lived with the tenant for 12 months or more prior to the tenants' death.
