It’s that time of year again! Our annual Garden of the Year Competition is back, and we’re excited to celebrate the creativity, care and pride our residents put into their outside spaces.
Gardening is a brilliant way to relax, learn new skills and enjoy time outdoors – and it’s even better when it’s shared. That’s why we’re encouraging children and families to get involved too, with a special focus on inspiring the next generation of gardeners.
🌱 A special invitation for children (Under 12)
Our Children’s Garden Competition is open to all young gardeners aged under 12. Whether it’s their first time planting a seed or they already love getting their hands muddy, everyone is welcome to take part.
To help them get started, we’re offering free seeds (choose from sunflowers or tomatoes) to young entrants who sign up by early spring. Simply plant them, care for them and watch them grow – it’s that simple!
There are prizes and certificates to be won, and we encourage parents, grandparents, and carers to join in too.
No matter the size or style of your space, you’re invited to enter. From balcony window boxes and patios to vegetable patches, flowerbeds, and communal gardens, we want to see how you’ve made your outdoor area your own.

🏆 Judging and closing date
The closing date for all entries is Friday 31 July 2026.
Entries will be judged by members of the Cornwall Housing Tenants’ Forum, who will select the winners and award the prizes.
