Cornwall Housing manages 3 gypsy and traveller sites

We provide 66 pitches for travellers and a range of landlord services. In addition to site management services, Cornwall Housing provides other Gypsy and Traveller services to Cornwall Council. This includes assessing any unauthorised encampments in Cornwall on Council owned land (e.g. car parks) and reporting back to Cornwall Council. In addition, Cornwall Housing will be managing the new South Treviddo transit site.

Residential Sites
  • Boscarn Parc - 32 pitches
  • Wheal Jewel - 24 pitches
  • Fordown Park - 10 pitches

The sites are managed and maintained by Cornwall Housing and applications should be made through Homechoice.

South Treviddo Transit Site

The South Treviddo transit site is located on the A38 two miles north of Liskeard just off of the junction for Looe. The site can accommodate 15 caravans depending on the size of each unit and the number of accompanying vehicles. Prior to admission, all applicants are required to provide verifiable identification and a refundable cash deposit in order to ensure fair compliance with the Site License and Rules.

Are travellers charged to stay on the temporary transit site?

Normally yes. But currently Cornwall Council are trialling a period when these fees are wavered. This will be reviewed In April 2023. Usually, groups of travellers moving to the temporary transit site will be charged rent to stay temporarily on the site. Based upon similar arrangements elsewhere, the charge would be in the region of £80 per caravan per week as well as a security deposit on the site payable in advance. Such a group would also have to adhere to an agreement signed by them on behaviour and littering prior to occupation.
