New Cookers for Cornwall Housing Communities

We have provided two brand-new cookers for the communities of Tregaer Flats in Falmouth, and Bederkesa Court in Bodmin.

The residents at Tregaer and Bederkesa Court highlighted the need for new cookers in their communal kitchens, which they rely on to host their community events. These include Sunday lunches, bacon bap mornings and Christmas dinners.

Cornwall Housing agreed to fund and install the new cookers using our partnership funds with the UK’s largest supplier of building materials, Travis Perkins Ltd.

Chairman of the Tregaer Flats Tenants’ Association, Gerald Chin-Quee, commented: “Our previous oven was on its last legs, but we were able to acquire a new one through the help of Joanne May at Cornwall Housing. So, a big thank you to her. It’s a beauty, in chic black with 7 rings and two ovens. Just what our indefatigable team of volunteers need to cook our community Sunday lunches every week.”

Chris, who lives at Bederkesa Court, commented: “We are all so appreciative to have been given this amazing new cooker. It is huge, which has made life so much easier for us when we cook for lots of people at our communal events. We would like to say a great big thank you to Travis Perkins for funding the cooker, and to Jo at Cornwall Housing for all her hard work helping us to get it.”
