Our West Cornwall-based Estate Rangers have been working diligently at the Beacon in Falmouth, in preparation for the 80th anniversary of the D-Day landings.
The Beacon will be the centrepiece of the remembrance events in the Falmouth area on 06 June. Communities across the country will commemorate the D-Day landings along the Normandy coast during World War II, honouring the bravery and sacrifice of those who participated.
Collaborating with local residents, Falmouth Town Council, and with support from Cormac colleagues, our West Estate Rangers (Katie Mahon, Martin Goodall, and Daniel Dinneen) have been maintaining our sustainable shrub beds and tidying the area around the inclusive seating made from recycled, sustainably sourced wood.
Falmouth Town Council expressed their appreciation, saying: “We had a very successful session last week with the Estate Rangers, who put their back into getting the top bed and both picnic benches weeded.”
Date: Thursday 06 June 2024
Time: 9:15pm
Gather to watch the Falmouth Beacon being lit in commemoration of the 80th anniversary of the D-Day landings.
On 06 June, communities across the country will be connected through the lighting of beacons. Falmouth will light its own beacon in the aptly named Beacon area of the town. At 9:15pm, the beacon will be lit to celebrate the ‘light of peace,’ and the International Tribute will be undertaken by the Mayor of Falmouth. There will be performances from a piper and a local artist.
