We recently welcomed Healthy Start Cornwall to one of our Supported Living Schemes to run a healthy eating cooking class. Families were invited down to the playroom to make healthy pizzas.
Parents were given the opportunity to get hands on in the kitchen. They were able to socialise with each other and have open conversations about healthy tips, tricks and habits that they can adopt in their day-to-day lives.
There was a separate supervised play area. This meant parents could fully enjoy their cooking session whilst their children were kept safe and happy.
After all of the cooking and commotion in the kitchen, families, staff and children sat together and enjoyed their pizzas whilst having a group chat about what health concerns any families may have and what the Healthy Start Cornwall team could do to assist them.
The event had a great turn out. Due to the success of this first session, the ladies have already started planning the next one - healthy and budget-friendly one pot dishes. The residents cannot wait to take part!
This event shows some of the great work that is carried out by our Independent Living Service team, who provide valuable support to tenants of all ages and disabilities.
