Our recent Malabar Community Day was a real success, bringing residents, partner organisations and colleagues together for a positive day of conversation, support and community involvement.
It was great to see residents making the most of our free clothes swap, with plenty of items finding new homes and getting a second life.
Throughout the day, we spoke with lots of residents, including many who stopped by while on the school run. These informal conversations gave us the chance to listen to local concerns, answer questions and help resolve issues on the spot, with advice and support available from a range of teams and partner organisations.
We also carried out a survey on the future of the Behenna Road Play Park, where residents shared valuable feedback and ideas about what they would like to see in the space, helping to ensure local voices are part of shaping future improvements.
Several residents expressed an interest in getting involved in future community activities, while others highlighted their language and translation skills, presenting exciting opportunities to help us connect with and support even more people within the community.
We were delighted by the support from our partner organisations and internal teams, including Devon & Cornwall Police, Truro Safe, the local councillor, WMS, the CHL Contact Centre, Rents Team, Tenancy Sustainment Officer, CHAOS Group and the Rangers team.
Having so many services and organisations in one place gave residents the opportunity to speak directly with the people who can help, access advice and learn more about the support available in a relaxed and welcoming setting.
A huge thank you to everyone who attended and gave their time to support the event. Your contribution played a key role in making the day such a success.
Overall, the event was a fantastic opportunity to strengthen relationships, address local concerns and encourage greater community involvement. We look forward to building on the connections made and creating more opportunities for residents to have their voices heard and help shape their neighbourhood.
