Routine property valuations taking place for a small number of homes

Each year, Cornwall Council reviews the collective value of its council homes, and every five years it also carries out a more detailed valuation of a small number of properties.  

This year, Cornwall Council have appointed Savills to carry out valuations across a range of different properties.  

If you have not received a letter about a property valuation, your home has not been selected and no action is required. 

Residents whose homes have been selected will receive a letter in advance. An appointed surveyor from Savills, acting on behalf of Cornwall Council, will visit selected properties between 5 October and 23 October 2026. 

If you happen to be at home, the surveyor may ask to have a quick look at the inside of your home and take a photo of the outside of the property. This should take no more than 10 minutes. Surveyors will carry official Savills identification cards, and residents are encouraged to ask to see their ID before allowing access. 

Please note, however, that there is no need to wait in throughout the visit period. If you are not at home when they visit, they will simply take a photo of the outside of your home and do a visual valuation.   

This is a routine process and is carried out solely to help Cornwall Council keep its property valuation records up to date.
