In Spring 2025, we invited around 2,800 tenants and leaseholders to take part in a survey to help shape our Neighbourhoods Strategy.
A total of 299 residents shared their views, and we are very grateful for the time and insight they provided. The feedback gathered will play a key role in guiding how we improve our local communities.
When we asked residents what makes a neighbourhood a great place to live, three clear themes emerged:
Local working, community and neighbourhoods
Residents told us that strong communities are built on people looking out for one another. Words like friendly, respectful, kind, neighbourly, and supportive came up again and again, highlighting the importance of a connected and caring community.
Anti-social behaviour and community safety
Feeling safe is essential. Residents said they value peace, quiet, and low levels of anti-social behaviour, alongside responsible pet ownership and a sense of security in their neighbourhoods.
Estate services and the physical environment
The condition of shared spaces also matters. Residents highlighted the importance of clean, tidy, and well-maintained areas, with good access to green spaces, parking, and communal areas that everyone can enjoy.
We also asked residents for their overall thoughts, and many emphasised that a great neighbourhood is not just about the environment, but about how people treat each other and take pride in where they live.
The survey is now closed, and our service managers are continuing to review the results in detail.
These insights will play an important role in shaping the future direction of our Neighbourhoods Strategy.
