The first residents have now moved into their new homes at the Murdoch and Trevithick development in Redruth, marking a major milestone for the scheme.

The 52-home scheme is being managed by Cornwall Housing (CHL) on behalf of Cornwall Council, and is CHL's largest development to date, helping to deliver much-needed affordable housing for the local community.

The development includes a mix of homes to meet a range of needs.

Ellie said: "It feels amazing to finally have a place we can call our own. The house is so clean and spacious, and the whole site is lovely. We can’t wait to get started and make it our home."

Also moving in on the same day were Chloe and Andrew and their family of seven, who have returned to Redruth after living in Camborne.

They said: "We’re so happy to be back in Redruth. The house is beautiful and bigger than we expected. It’s a fresh start for us and the children – we can’t wait to settle in."

Reflecting on the impact of the scheme, Adam Fitzpatrick, Regional Housing Manager, said: "It was a pleasure to spend the afternoon speaking with some of the new residents. Having heard their recent experiences, I am pleased that these new homes will provide much needed stability and enhance their quality of life whilst enabling many to remain close to their families and friends."

The development has been delivered through partnership working between Cornwall Council, Arcadis Construction and Classic Builders South West, helping to bring high-quality, affordable homes to the area.

Further residents will continue to move in over the coming weeks, as the new community begins to take shape in Redruth.
