We offer additional services in the form of Fall Detectors and Wireless Smoke Alarms that are linked to Lifeline, along with Key Safes.

1. Fall Detector

The Vibby is an advanced fall detector which is worn on the wrist. It will automatically raise an alert if it senses the user has fallen, and also enables the wearer to easily call for help manually. The Vibby can give confidence to anyone who is at risk of falling, such as:

  • People with limited mobility
  • Older people
  • People with learning disabilities
  • People with epilepsy
  • People with diabetes
  • People with conditions such as Parkinson’s Disease

Using an innovative algorithm and a new pressure sensor, the Vibby is designed to automatically detect a serious fall and raise an alert, either at the monitoring centre or on a carer pager. The wearer can also manually raise an alert by pressing the button on the face of the Vibby. Confirmation that an alert has been raised will be given by an LED light and vibration. The cancellation of an alarm has also been improved, movement of the arm after a fall will no longer cancel the alarm. To cancel an alarm, the user must either stand up or cover the Vibby completely with their hand during the 20 second period after a fall is detected. The Vibby will stop vibrating to confirm the alert has been cancelled. The fall detector works alongside our current lifeline units and is charged at a weekly fee of £2.50 plus VAT in addition to the usual lifeline charges.

2. Wireless Smoke Alarm

Unlike normal smoke alarms our wireless device raises two alarms – one by the familiar high pitched beep, and also by sending a signal to the lifeline unit to alert the call centre of the possible risk of fire. The process is automatic and immediate; the risks to life and property are reduced. This device also works alongside our current lifeline equipment, and can provide added reassurance to users and their families for an additional £1.50 a week plus VAT.

The wireless smoke alarm is important because fire poses one of the most serious threats to people and home and its effects are devastating. Homes equipped with smoke detectors continue to discover fires more rapidly than those without. Installing wireless smoke detectors is a simple and straightforward method of providing a monitored fire detection system in the home.

The device includes the following features:

  • One battery – powers both the detector and radio transmission
  • Auto low battery warning, and battery life expectancy of 10 years
  • Accredited to EN14604:2009 – the latest standard for smoke detectors

3. Key Safe

The Supra C500 Key Safe was designed after extensive consultation with users. It is the only mechanical key safe to have police approval for being tested on outside walls. This approval is recognised by leading home insurance companies. We are pleased to announce that we are now able to offer and install this as part of our independent living service for an additional £1 per week.

One of the main benefits of the Key Safe is the reassurance of knowing that emergency assistance can arrive with you without any harm to your property or even to yourself in trying to reach the door. This also means that you can receive help as quickly as possible without needing to force entry (which can often prove expensive) or waiting for someone with a key to arrive. Key Safes are far more secure than leaving a spare key under the mat or on a piece of string through the letterbox, for example.
